Ted Jantz, D.O., is MCDH's newest general surgeon.

MCDH is proud to welcome Dr. Ted Jantz to the Mendocino Coast.  A general surgeon with more than 8 years of solo practice experience, Dr. Jantz joins MCDH from Bowling Green, Ohio.

Dr. Jantz enjoys the challenge of serving the community’s wide variety of general surgical needs, including hernias, appendectomies, gall bladder procedures and breast biopsies, in addition to colonoscopies and upper endoscopy procedures.  “I enjoy the challenge of seeing new things all the time,” says Dr. Jantz.

Dr. Jantz was recruited to our community to complement existing medical staff, and to make more health care services available locally so that people do not have to go “over the hill” to receive care.  “Physician recruitment is part of the hospital’s commitment to meet the needs of the community, and to build for future growth of the hospital.  We are excited to welcome Dr. Jantz,” says the hospital’s CEO, Bryan Ballard.

Dr. Jantz, D.O., is a Board Certified Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons.  He earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Michigan State University, and completed his General Surgery residency at Michigan State University’s Metropolitan Hospital, serving as Chief Surgical Resident in his final year.

As a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.), Dr. Jantz takes a holistic approach to medicine and works with patients to consider the impacts of lifestyle and community on their health.  Osteopathic Medicine emphasizes helping each patient achieve a high level of wellness by focusing on health education, injury prevention and disease prevention.

When not in the operating room, Dr. Jantz spends time reading and enjoying the outdoors.  “I am looking forward to getting out on a bike more often,” he says.  Though he hasn’t yet earned his pilot’s license, aviation is a favorite pastime.

Dr. Jantz may be contacted for an appointment by calling 964-6910.
