Dr. William Rohr, MD, MSME

MCDH welcomes William Rohr, MD, MSME, an orthopedic surgeon specializing in joint reconstruction surgery, hand surgery and sports related injuries of the knee and shoulder.

Dr. Rohr comes to MCDH from his private orthopedic practice in Jupiter, Florida.  He is Board Certified with the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, is a Fellow with the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery, and an Honorary Fellow of the Knee Society.

Dr. Rohr received his bachelor’s degree in engineering from Princeton University, followed by a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from New York University.  He earned his Medical Degree from Washington University, winning the Senior Prize in Medicine.

He completed his internship at Philadelphia Naval Hospital, and his residency in Orthopedic Surgery at San Diego Naval Hospital.  He was retained by the U.S. Navy at San Diego for two years following his residency, during which time he ran the children’s services, including the Cerebral Palsy and Neuromuscular Disease Clinics, and spent four months in Yokosuka, Japan as Chief of Orthopedic Surgery.

Dr. Rohr’s special interests include adult joint reconstruction and hand surgery, including the management of rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis, and tendon and nerve repairs.  Sports medicine has been a major component of Dr. Rohr’s practice, treating high school and collegiate injuries as well as athletic injuries in the 35 to 55 year age group.  He also takes emergency call, including treatment of all fractures of the upper and lower extremities.

Dr. Rohr has directed and been involved in the research and development of new technologies including implants, for which he holds numerous patents worldwide.  He has extensive experience in corporate medicine, including serving at a senior vice president level for companies including Johnson & Johnson and Zimmer.

In addition to his medical work, Dr. Rohr is an avid pilot, photographer, SCUBA diver, and enjoys fly fishing.  He and his wife, Linda, have also been Morgan horse breeders, active in several Morgan horse associations and shows.
